What to expect in your Bowenwork session:

    • When you come for a Bowenwork session there will be a review of your health history and questions about the reason for your visit.
    • Please wear or bring light clothing with you.  If you choose to wear underclothes only during a session, you will be professionally draped for modesty and comfort.
    • Most Bowen work will be done while you lie on a massage table, but if that is not possible for some reason, Bowenwork can be accomplished while in a seated position.
    • Each session lasts approximately 20 to 60 minutes.
    • Bowenwork procedures are gentle with time in between the moves for the signals to be integrated by the central nervous system.  During this time the therapist will leave the room as you process the moves. You may notice when you’re on the table sensations of warmth, tingling, expansion, or nothing at all.  This does not mean there is nothing happening.  Most clients experience a sense of relaxation.

    Following your session:

    • You will be assisted in getting off the table.  You may notice changes immediately, but most likely you will begin to notice them in the days to follow.
    • Check in with the therapist is encouraged and helpful to know how your body is working. Usually an email is the best.
    • It will also be important to increase your water intake the next few days.
    • Plan to walk around every hour following a session the day of the treatment.
    • Wait to receive other types of body work for at least 5 days following a session.
    • Gentle Bowen exercises may be done as homework and will be essential to achieve the best results.
